Atheists and religious people as inappropriate leaders

Why do atheists not become political leaders?

I ask this question because virtually all political leaders are religious people, and if we consider that religious people are ultimately only considering their life after death why should we vote (allow) for someone to be in control of what takes place here and now on this earth?

If we take a metaphor, why would we give someone the task to keep the inside living space of our houses clean when their ultimate/true interest is in keeping the garden tidy? Soon we will find the house full of “leaves and dead branches” because the “maid” was living up to the idea of how things should be done within the context of an external “heavenly place” as the ultimate reality.

It does not make sense
This planet and all life in it is not ours to do as we please just because in a book says that we “have dominium over the earth”. The accepted way that we “dominate” the world is rather... how can I put it in a nice way?.... Fucked Up!!

Atheists, as the word implies, do not believe in God neither all that comes along with it (heaven and hell, angels and demons etc).

God gives religious people a sense of meaning to life through reward and punishment.
To atheists this does not seem to exist, thus it is “safe” to say that they only “live for themselves” and “those close to them” (?) and as far as they are concerned they only “live once” and act as if there is no consequence.

This might explain why atheists do not get involved in politics: they have no apparent motive to “better the world” given the fact that capitalism (advertised in the Bible) gives them the opportunity to enrich themselves at the expense of the religious poor majority that hopes for a better existence in “heaven”.

What appears to stand as “God” to atheists is Money and their “way of living”/conduct is “survival of the fittest” (evolution).

Both ideologies do not benefit life on this planet – both ideologies disregard what is HERE = what is REAL!

Religious people ultimately only “care” about themselves after they die. Atheists only “care” about themselves now and as such compete and aim to always “win”/”survive” and disregard everything else.

I am indeed aware that both atheists and religious people "seem to care about others" and give money to charities etc... but the simple fact that these charities only exists due to the current money system and these people themselves participate in the current money system that allows poverty to exist in first place - this invalidates all their efforts to "do something good". The "Monitoring System" must change!

Desteni presents the Ultimate and Real way of Living. I say this because what Desteni presents is a practical way that considers ALL Living things on this earth.

At Desteni we realize that there is no “God” out there. We realize that we all must stand as God through forgiving our “demons” until we become “angels” and “guardians” of Life, thus turning this current “hell” on earth into a real “heaven”. --- Desteni 'I' Process

At Desteni we stand as leaders that consider our existences onto infinity – as such we propose an economic system that has its value based on life itself, and as such everyone is equal within it, everyone has access to all the basic needs necessary to live a dignified life.

The reason atheists don't become leaders here in America has exactly naught with their position on power or this world versus a non-existent next one...

It has to do with the vast majority of so-called Christians here. It is almost impossible for an open, declared atheist to be elected, or even appointed, to any position in government. Being called 'godless' or 'atheist' is a fatal pejorative in an American election.

As to your nonsense about money as a god... I am an atheist, a poet and live a meager existence by the 'Keeping up with the Jones' standard set here.

None of the atheists I know (and I belong to the local city's atheist group) are doing any more or less to make a living than any of the religious folk hereabouts.

Furthermore, the church, as a whole, is the best teacher when it comes to the value of 'power over' others... Corporate oligarchs and government powermongers uniformly declare themselves to be religious.

You do have a good point that proves my point even further. Yet that should not serve as an excuse for an atheist not to take a stance and and assume a position of power.

Politics is secular. It seems like America's ideology of freedom and democracy is not quite so...

And don't forget that the world is not America - America is a minority, as it is your example.

Money is everyone's God - everyone in the world thinks more about money the concept of "god".
It is all about money in this world. Your whole life has been defined by how much money you have had. No money = no life.

My point with this blog is not to cause conflict: it is to present a solution. Maybe, if you care about life, you will investigate. Or maybe "god" is by your side and you will not do anything about the billions who were forgotten by "god".
